Sunday night, Zoe attended and presented an award at the 4th Annual Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards honoring excellence in the making part of film making- and managed to make at least one best dressed list while doing so.

Highlight photos from various event reports and Zoe-Zaldana.com below the cuts. Quick grab all of them here.

Zoe also made a best dressed list for the weekend.

Now, Zoe Saldana is one star who can get away with a simple ensemble without inducing the snooze-factor. As the epitome of less is more, this tweed shift creates the perfect hourglass figure thanks to its structured bodice and large pockets that flare out at an angle.

I was surfing around the intertubes the other day, and came across this. I think everyone needs to be made aware of it, like, yesterday.

You may or may not know of Brent Spiner's Ol' Yellow Eyes is Back album (which incidentally I've only heard like one track from), but if you don't, all you need to know is the dude can sing. Last year he made another album with Maude Maggart (whose voice is just... guh - where has she been hiding?) that's pretty much a 40's radio play. It's called Dreamland, and in it Brent's character dreams an entire love tumultuous love affair. There's much lovely singing, quite a bit of humor, and more than a little adorableness. Also: Mark Hammil does some character voices. Just so you know.

^I have that set to start near the end, where you can get the latter two-thirds of one of my favorite songs, To Know You. But I highly recommend watching the whole thing. It's a making-of sort of video.

blahblahblah )

In sum: BRENT MOTHERFUCKING SPINER PANTY-THROWINGLY CROONING LOVE SONGS. CHECK IT OUT. (dirty bonus there's no way not to awkwardly mention: As it's a love story, there are...sounds. High quality MP3s, headphones... I'll let you draw the conclusions.)

Supernatural stud Jensen Ackles and his girlfriend fiance, One Tree Hill actress Danneel Harris, come out to watch the horses race at the Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships at Santa Anita Park on Saturday (November 7) in Los Angeles.

Jensen, 31, and Dannell, 30, were accompanied by Star Trek star John Cho and his Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay co-star Rachael Harris. Also in attendance: Grey’s Anatomy actor Justin Chambers and Nip/Tuck’s Julian McMahon (not pictured)

EDIT: To answer the speculation: Dannell was in Harold and Kumar with John Cho. Dannell was also recently engaged to Jensen Ackles. So, I think it's fair to say that at some point during the event Sulu and Dean Winchester probably met. Dean Winchester is now 2 degrees of Star Trek. Bam.

For those of you who were able to document your meetups, please post your pics and recaps here, or better yet link to a post in your own LJ so that the comment pages here don't break the internet.

Even if you didn't take any pictures, please feel free to recount the awesomeness of meeting with other GQMF's, any funny conversations or accidental meeting of other Star Trek geeks fans. lol

Last week we had the adventures of the USS (Genderb)Enterprise and [info]svrldsmntls told us about meeting Patrick Stewart.

This is for recaps and pics only, if you want to plan a new one please use the other Monday post.

Do it!

This is the weekly post where members can plan meetups for movies, conventions, and misc events.

And with the DVD out in several countries, and about to be release in several others, this is the perfect reason for a meet-up!

THIS THREAD IS NOT THE PLANNING OR DISCUSSION AREA; just specify the city you're in and link to a post in your personal journal where your neighbors can plan the meetup with you.

If you're not organizing a meet-up, but looking for other GQMFs near you doing one, check out the list of communities dedicated to these meet-ups under the cut. )

Punch it!

Hi guys :)

I'm writing a paper on Kirk/Spock slashers (UM WHY YES I DO LOVE MY COURSE, THANK YOU) and I wanted to take a kind of survey - I figured who better to ask than all you awesome GQMFs?

SO. The survey is here, on my journal. There's only four questions, and they're pretty simple. Basically you can be as specific or as vague with your answers as you want, it's entirely up to you. One word answers are awesome, and so are answers that are completely over the top tl;dr xD

Also all comments are screened, and anonymous commenting is enabled, so your answers will be completely private if you want them to be. And don't worry, I won't be publishing my paper or anything like that, this is purely for school essay writing purposes :)

AND HERE IS A PINTO PICSPAM FYT )

.. yeah I know it should have been a Spork picspam, but I'm in a hurry and had these sitting on my photobucket already xD

(Because if Sarek had it, we can assume Spock's got a good chance at it too, amirite?)

The rather-unreliable tool that is LJ Seek tells me that this has not been shared with the GQMFs on here, but forgive me if it has.

Was going through my Star Trek folder on my computer and found a vid I hadn't watched in a while: Spock vs. Q. You've got to assume that anything with the inimitable John DeLancie and Leonard Nimoy is going to be good. The vid consists of clips from the recording of the album, and it's not overly easy to get a good picture of the context of some of the clips. Especially the last one.

(Embedding has been disabled, sry. Link to the beginning of the last clip.)

All I can think we're supposed to assume is that Q passed the bong. Seriously, idk what the shit is this shit, but I've watched it something like 6 times in a row now and it doesn't stop being freaking hilarious.

ETA: The relevant Memory Alpha entries are Here and The Sequel. They're from the Alien Voices series, which I love freaking hard--sci-fi stuff audio-tized by Star Trek alums? What's not to love?--but are often hard to find. I discovered Alien Voices (in particular, their recording of War of the Worlds) on cassette as a kid at my public library, so that'd be a good place to look.

Yesterday, my friends and I went to a screening of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home at Paramount Studios, sponsored by the California State Parks Commission. A totally amazing experience watching ST: IV on the big screen FROM THE ORIGINAL FILM REELS FROM THE 1980s! They had a "previously on Star Trek" segment in the beginning and a different title sequence oozing with 1980s flair. Plus, it was just that much more exciting seeing the film the way it was supposed to be seen -- on a huge screen and rumbling with surround sound.

I'm no Annie Liebowitz with the camera, okay.

Oh, and afterwards there was a Q&A with the illustrious director himself! Who is Leonard Nimoy. (If you didn't know that, Vulcan nerve pinch yourself right now.) My friend was awesome enough to record the whole thing on her camera and upload it to YouTube, and she gave me permission to post it here. Credit for the videos goes to Stella Cao!

Sorry the sound quality isn't the best. I recorded a couple clips myself, and they all turned out the same because of the echo in the auditorium.

Rest of the vids after the jump!!! )

Hello!

So about a month and something ago I signed up for a Doctor Who themed craft swap over at Craftster, a really huge (vast, really) online forum for every kind of craftiness there is. This was my first ever craft swap so I was really excited and I wanted to send some things my partner would really enjoy

Since my swap partner has now received her box of goodies I can post what I sent to her without a threat of her being spoiled.

Various pictures of who-related stuff under the cut~ )

I had so much fun with this swap, and I got to try some new types of crafts that I had never done before (the plushie and the cross stitch). I can't wait to join in on the next swap!

x-posted to my journal

Here is the weekly post for the community to rewatch The Original Series of Star Trek and discuss it in the comments. This week's episode is...

Who was your favourite character in the episode? Why?
Who was your least favourite character in the episode? Why?
What issues did you find interesting? Why?
What did you find completely ridiculous/worthy of lulz? Why?

Not sure if all your wonderful GQMFers have had the chance to enjoy this yet... George Takei.... in his own words on Celebrity Biography.
And for the record, I love that the man can laugh at himself. Celebrities reading celebrities-- simply brilliant!

A fellow fan at the TrekBBS message board posted the first scans from the upcoming hardcover book Star Trek The Art of the Film by Titan Books, on sale November 17th. You can see the sketches artwork for Starfleet Academy, the Orion cadet Gayla, the new U.S.S. Enterprise exterior and interior, the damaged USS Kelvin and even Klingon cruisers.

You can find larger versions of those images at the TrekBBS

Another week, another episode of Merlin, and despite the fact that I vaguely planned to make myself a new Merlinesque icon to give these posts a bit of variety, I realize that I have not done so. Must be my action-packed life getting in the way, hem hem.

In the meantime, here are some thoughts about The Witchfinder, generally... )
